Car Accident Tips (New York)
Tips for those involved in an auto accident:
- Write down as much information as you can, including the names and contact information (including addresses and home and cell numbers) of drivers, passengers, and pedestrians involved.
- Get the names and contact information of as many witnesses as possible.
- If possible, take pictures at the scene of the vehicles, injuries, and witnesses. Even pictures from the camera on your cell phone are helpful.
- If a taxi, bus, or car service is involved, write down the driver's name and telephone number, the car or bus registration number, and the name and phone number of the cab or bus company.
- Exchange insurance information if you are a driver involved in the accident.
- Always call the authorities when property is damaged or there are injuries of any kind, no matter how minor they appear.
